Logic Audio Workshops

We have found that everyone can easily become intimidated by their first encounter with logic. It looks difficult, and boring – in fact, it looks like math! We believe logic can be a everyone's favorite subject. It was ours.

We have recently produced a DVD of our logic workshops, but here these workshops are in their audio versions for free.

Learning to Think Logically

When you turn on your TV or read the newspaper, you are bombarded by propaganda and bad logic everywhere. In this workshop, Nathaniel and Hans introduce ways parents and students can combat the illogic around them. Nathaniel and Hans explain a little of what logic is, and how everyone needs to use more of it. The goal of this workshop is to convince you that logic is fun, and give you something practical you can take home and use. Common logical mistakes and various types of good reasoning are explained, along with a practical suggested course of study for all ages. You will discover how ordinary homeschool parents can teach their children logic.

This workshop was presented by Nathaniel Bluedorn (speaking first) and Hans Bluedorn in 2003 to an audience of teens at the Christian Home Educatior's Association convention in Ontario, California. This workshop lasts one hour and has been split into four parts to make it easier to download.

Using Your Thinking Toolbox

Ultimately, it isn't all the facts that you pour into your child's head that will count - it's the enthusiasm he learns for using his mind. Nathaniel and Hans want to make good thinking skills part of every school subject. They show how adding a little logic to boring subjects can turn them into something fun and memorable. Topics include: (a) Why study opposing viewpoints?, (b) Evaluating different interpretations of history, (c) Tools for scientific thinking, and (d) How to build a winning science fair project.

Finding Things on the Internet

Do you have a special medical condition to research? Curriculum to compare? Need to talk to another homeschooler with the same problems as you? The Internet can be more useful than even the library in doing research and finding information. The Internet is changing the marketplace of ideas, just as Gutenberg did five hundred years ago. Nathaniel gives you tools for using email lists, the Web, news groups, and discussion boards, while still protecting your family from bad influences on the Internet.

The Logical Defense of the Faith

Harvey Bluedorn explains Christian apologetics from a presuppositional perspective. This workshop lasts one hour.
